The Healthcare Management Insight web site and its associated electronic newsletters and reports are published by Henchey Information Solutions LLC. Launched in the summer of 2004, Healthcare Management Insight publications provide hospitals and other healthcare organizations with the information they need to assess their management information needs, select appropriate software products and services, plan for effective implementations and get the most value out of their healthcare business intelligence systems.

Editorial Mission

Healthcare Management Insight provides healthcare administrators and clinicians with information about software tools and related management techniques that they can use to measure, analyze and improve the financial and clinical performance of their hospitals and health systems. Healthcare Management Insight articles educate readers about advanced techniques in decision support and clinical process improvement and describe the lessons learned from successful implementations at other healthcare organizations. Healthcare Management Insight articles also provide guidance to readers about the complex process of selecting and implementing software for a range of management applications including executive scorecards, physician performance reports, budgeting, cost accounting, service line analysis, quality tracking, statistical process control, managed care contract management, labor productivity analysis and comparative benchmarking.

Leadership

The editorial direction of Healthcare Management Insight is set by its publisher and editor, Paul Henchey, who also authors many of its articles and reports. Henchey has been active in the field of healthcare management software since 1979 when he joined Amherst Associates, Inc. a small company that was pioneering the field with software for budgeting, planning and case mix analysis. Later, with HBOC and McKesson, he led the design and marketing of a wide range of software products including applications for cost accounting, managed care, clinical quality analysis, and web-based business intelligence. Henchey earned an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts and graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Biology.

In 2005, Henchey joined Thomson Medstat in Ann Arbor where he is responsible for the development of new decision support solutions for hospitals and health systems.
